10 feet and 1 inch? Why the extra inch?
We use 10 feet and 1 inch of paracord to make our Survival Bracelets and the reason for the extra one inch is simple.
Paracord shrinks when it gets wet. Neither MIL-C-5040 (military standard cord) nor 550 Type III Commercial cord (the type
most surplus stores sell) will shrink very much but they do shrink. The reason is MIL-C-5040 is dyed material
and goes through a shrink process for coloring. You will generally have more shrinkage in the natural (white) color
because it doesn't go through the same dye process. But, all in all, it still won't be much. The 550 TYPE III COMMERCIAL
cord will shrink more because it's a solution dyed material.
Overall, a bracelet will shrink less than 1/2 inch and we want you to have the full 10 feet that we
advertise. Our exclusive adjustable bracelet ensures that your fit will be perfect no matter what. Whether your bracelet gets
wet in a Virginia shower along the AT or gets really drenched on the class III-IV Hell's Canyon section of the Snake River, you can be certain
it won't loose its fit. Gain a little...uh...muscle? Loose a little weight? No problem. It's adjustable.
Our cord comes from a U.S. manufacturer and current supplier to the U.S. military.
You might find similar bracelets on the internet but most of them ask you to send in your wrist size before they make
your bracelet. Unless they use pre-shrunk paracord and/or genuine MIL-C-5040, you will probably loose that perfect fit
the first time it gets wet. Why take the chance when ours is fully adjustable and it comes with a 100% 30 day guarantee?
A Note About Multi-Colored Bracelets: We're often asked why we sell bracelets with only one color. The answer is simple.
Multi-colored bracelets are made by fusing two different colors of paracord together. If it is advertised with 15 feet of
cord you really wind up with two 7 1/2 foot sections fused together or braided together. Our survival bracelets are for
survival. To help you get out of a jam and keep you breathing long enough to reach safety or until help arrives. We think
you will stand a much better chance of that with a single piece of paracord. That's why we only use one color.
Safety Information
Paracord was not designed, and it should not be used, for climbing. While its uses are many and varied, it does not contain
the same properties and safety characteristics as climbing rope. Paracord is not fine-tuned for the optimum combination of
weight, number of falls, impact force, elongation, handling and durability that is found in commercial climbing ropes.
Ropes designed primarily for sport climbing must provide a soft catch and be durable, while not having too much elongation.
Paracord does not provide any of these features. Don't put you life at risk by misusing paracord to climb with.
